Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises
Therapy is beneficial for anyone wanting to make necessary changes in their life. It requires commitment and transparency.
During a therapy session, present and past challenges will be addressed. We can schedule an initial consultation meeting to see if we are good match. This consultation appointment is shorter in duration than a regular session and there is no charge for this session. If you decide to move forward, you will be sent a link to your client portal. Please fill out those documents before our initial assessment session. After the documents have been completed, we will schedule an initial assessment session. A treatment plan will be put into place and a resolution goal will be set.
Yes, we will work together to determine what your diagnosis is based on your symptoms.
No, I am not allowed to prescribe medication as I am not a medical doctor.
Many counseling clients can attend for up to 20 weekly sessions. Ongoing assessment takes place at each session. Some clients find after the allotted time that they do not require additional therapy while others find that they need more time.
I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and Cigna in the state of Alabama only. If you are out of network, we will provide documentation to give to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
Yes, we will see individuals with no insurance provided you pay for each session at the time of the session. With approval, payment plans may be available.
Any payment necessary is due at the time of the session. With access to your patient portal, you have the ability to pay with credit cards. Your card can be stored on our secure platform and authorized for payment at the time of session. We also accept Venmo or cash payments.
24 hour notice of your cancellation is required in order to avoid charges being applied. Advanced notice will give us an opportunity to schedule a time that is better for you.
Each therapy modality is an evidenced-based treatment modality; we do not use feelings to determine success. We use assessments to provide measurable success in therapy. However, you may start to feel better once you've processed your feelings. Ideally, that's the ultimate goal but there will be times where you won't feel good about the therapeutic process and that in and of itself is a part of the process towards healing.
We are seeing patients in the office and can perform tele-therapy appointments to anyone located in the state of Alabama. We can offer sessions as short as 30 minutes up to an hour. We offer individual therapy, marriage therapy, couples therapy and several content driven groups. We can see children as young as 5 and adults.
I am bound by law to maintain your confidentiality at all times. There are limitations to confidentiality and those include harm to self, others, someone is attempting to harm you, or in the event I am court ordered by a judge to testify. There will be times where I may need to consult with a fellow clinician. If this is the case, all identifying information will be withheld. This will also be discussed further during the intake session.
Yes, I won't record every single word that we discuss but I need to maintain a record of our progress and anything that is of significance to our therapeutic process. Your records are stored in a HIPPA compliant file in my database and after 7 years those records will be destroyed. You have a right to your records at any time and we can discuss further during the intake session how you would go about requesting your records should you need them.
